Comment

There were three distinct types issued for the 2015 Battle of Britain commemorative featuring three different obverses, two different compositions, with just one type being struck for circulation. We are indebted to the numismatic website Change Checker and Numista member Sjoelund for sharing the graphic below:

This Ian Rank-Broadley fourth portrait strike was not issued for circulation, being released in the BU and Proof Annual Sets for 2015 and in individual BU packs with sales of 35,199. This design was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort and gold proof.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Non-circulating coin 50 Pence - Elizabeth II (4th portrait; Battle of Britain) 2015 from United Kingdom (United Kingdom, British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies) made of Copper-nickel weighing 8 g is that it was issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, a pivotal air campaign fought between the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) during World War II. The coin's design features an image of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, who were the monarchs during the time of the Battle of Britain, and the iconic Spitfire plane that played a crucial role in the battle. The coin's reverse side features an image of the RAF's iconic roundel insignia.
