Interesting fact

The 50p coin featuring Elizabeth II's third portrait, small type, and made of copper-nickel was the first coin to feature a new design on the reverse side, which showcased a unique commemorative design for the year 1997. This was a departure from the traditional depiction of the Britannia image that had been featured on previous 50p coins.
