Comment
The warrah (Dusicyon australis), also known as the Falkland Islands wolf, was the only native land mammal present on the islands. Even though it was a canid, it wasn’t a wolf at all and was in fact the only known modern member of the genus Dusicyon. The warrah is considered to be extinct and its last live specimen was seen in 1876.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that is specific to the Falkland Islands, which is a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic Ocean. The coin's reverse side features a depiction of a penguin, which is a common species found in the Falkland Islands, and the obverse side features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This design was only used on coins minted between 1980 and 1992, making it a distinctive and collectible coin for numismatists.
