Comment

For thousands of years the Green Turtle has travelled to Ascension Island all the way from the South American coast to lay its eggs. It is one of nature's mysteries how the turtle is able to travel so far to find the same beach year after year.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design on the reverse side, showcasing a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was specifically designed for the coinage of Saint Helena and Ascension. This design was used from 1984 to 1990 and is different from the standard design used on coins in other countries that feature the Queen's image.
