Interesting fact
The Dimitrie Cantemir coin, issued in 2003, was the first silver coin produced by the National Bank of Moldova. It was part of a series of commemorative coins honoring prominent Moldovan personalities, and it features an image of Dimitrie Cantemir, a Moldovan prince and scholar who lived in the 17th century.
