Interesting fact
The 50 Francs coin from New Caledonia features a unique design that reflects the island's rich cultural heritage. On one side, the coin depicts the profile of a Kanak woman, a member of the indigenous people of New Caledonia, wearing a traditional headdress. On the other side, the coin features a image of a local bird, the "notou," which is a species of parrot found only in New Caledonia. This design was created by the French artist, Pierre Gandon, and it was specifically chosen to highlight the island's cultural and natural heritage.
