Interesting fact
The coin features a portrait of President Ahmadou Ahidjo, who led Cameroon to independence from France in 1960. He is depicted on the obverse side of the coin, surrounded by the words "République du Cameroun" and "50 Francs". The reverse side of the coin features the national emblem of Cameroon, a lion standing on a shield with the motto "Paix - Travail - Patrie" (Peace - Work - Fatherland) written below. This coin was minted to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Cameroon's independence and was circulated widely throughout the country.
