Till 2002 the privy marks are on the reverse, from 2003 on the privy marks are on the obverse.

Some dates have R·JOLY as designer's name, other dates have R JOLY (without the dot in between).

In 1972 these coins were minted in Paris. From 1983 to 2005 they were minted in Pessac.

Interesting fact

The 50 Francs coin from New Caledonia features a unique design that reflects the island's rich cultural heritage. On one side, the coin depicts the effigy of a Kanak warrior, while the other side features a traditional Melanesian hut. This design was chosen to represent the cultural identity of the Kanak people, who are indigenous to New Caledonia.
