The 50 Fillér 1948 coin was the first coin to be issued by the Hungarian National Bank after World War II. It was designed by the Hungarian artist, Lajos Kossuth, and features a portrait of Lajos Kossuth on the obverse side, while the reverse side features the Hungarian coat of arms. The coin was made of aluminum and weighs 1.4 grams. It was minted in 1948 and was used as a standard circulation coin in Hungary until the introduction of the Forint in 1949.
