Comment
Part of a series of 15 coins designed by Christian Lacroix that trace the line of French rulers from King Clovis who united the Frankish tribes to François Mitterand, the longest-serving prime minister of the Republic. The coins were released in both silver and gold at three coins per year over 5 years, culminating in 2015. Although sold individually, Monnaie de Paris also issued a special casket for collectors to unite the complete sets in either silver or gold.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Non-circulating coin 50 Euros (Napoléon I) 2014 from France made of Gold (.920) weighing 8.45 g is that it features a unique design that showcases the profile of Napoleon Bonaparte, the French military and political leader, on the obverse side, while the reverse side features the coat of arms of the Bonaparte family. This coin was minted to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Napoleon's coronation as Emperor of France, and its design was inspired by the famous portrait of Napoleon painted by Jacques-Louis David in 1805.
