For the International Year-Gaudi, the FNMT-RCM joined in the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of this magnificent artist by launching a series of coins as a tribute to his life and work.
Antoni Gaudí i Cornet (25 June 1852 – 10 June 1926) was a Catalan architect and designer from Spain, known as the greatest exponent of Catalan Modernism. Gaudí's works have a highly individualized, sui generis style. Most are located in Barcelona, including his main work, the church of the Sagrada Família.
The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família is the largest unfinished Roman Catholic church in world and is located in Barcelona, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). Gaudí's work on the building is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site,[4] and in November 2010 Pope Benedict XVI consecrated and proclaimed it a minor basilica.
