Comment

Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (30 March 1746 – 16 April 1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker. He is considered the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His paintings, drawings, and engravings reflected contemporary historical upheavals and influenced important 19th- and 20th-century painters. Goya is often referred to as the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns.

The Harvest or Autumn is a painting by Francisco de Goya preserved in the Prado Museum. It belongs to a series of cartoons that Goya painted for the tapestries that would be used to decorate the walls of the Prince's dining room at the El Pardo palace in Madrid. It was part of a set on the four seasons, a typical Rococo theme, made up of "Las floreras" (Spring), "La era" (Summer), "La nevada" (Winter), and this one of "La Vendimia" (Autumn) in which it is used as grapes as a symbol of this season.
