The 2019 Canadian Gold Incuse Maple Leaf Coin is unique for several reasons, not the least of which is the use of a double incuse strike. The sugar maple leaf on the reverse and Queen Elizabeth IIs effigy on the obverse are struck in a sunken, incuse manner into the surface of the coin rather than being engraved onto the surface and protruding upward.
