The Arab Revolt of 1916-1918 (or Great Arab Revolt) was a rebellion led between 1916 and 1918 by the Sherif of Mecca, Hussein ben Ali, with the aim of participating in the liberation of the Arabian Peninsula, then largely occupied by the Ottoman Empire, and creating a unified Arab state, from Aleppo in Syria to Aden in Yemen, inspired by Arab nationalism.
