Comment
Félix Rubén García Sarmiento, better known as Rubén Darío, born in Metapa (now Ciudad Darío) on January 18, 1867 and died in Léon on February 6, 1916 (aged 49), was a Nicaraguan poet. He is the founder of the modernist literary movement in the Spanish-American language. Modernism" made its definitive debut with the publication of Rubén Darío's Azul in Chile in 1888. Darío's subsequent publications earned him recognition as the undisputed leader of the new movement. His most notable works are Azul ("Blue", 1888, Valparaíso, Chile), Prosas profanas ("Profane Proses", 1896, Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Cantos de Vida y Esperanza ("Songs of Life and Hope", 1905, Madrid, Spain).
