Comment

The Varivoce is one of the largest reef fish, found from the red sea to Polynesia in tropical waters. Endangered (IUCN). Replaces the Queen's portrait after suspension of Fiji from the Commonwealth of Nations in 2009 (reinstalled 09/2014).

Interesting fact

The 50 cents coin from Fiji featuring the Varivoce design (2012-2017) has a unique feature - it has a concentric circle design on the reverse side, which is rarely seen on coins. The inner circle represents the island of Fiji, while the outer circle symbolizes the ocean that surrounds it. This design not only adds aesthetic value to the coin but also serves as a reminder of Fiji's connection to the ocean and its importance to the country's culture and economy.
