To mark the 40th anniversary in 2006 of the transition to decimalisation in Australia the Royal Australian Mint has revisited the original 50c coin in shape and composition. Only available in the Eight Coin Year Proof Set issued for 2006 was this 31.51mm round 50 cent made from 80% silver and 20% copper. It weighs slightly less than it's dodecagonal cousins at 13.28grams. Also included in the proof set was a special 1 and 2 cent coin. This 50 cent coin was shaped round just like the first 50 cent coin in 1966 but has the Ian Rank Broadley Obverse instead of the original Arnold Machin Obverse .
