Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 50 Cents (1st decimal series) 1961-1964 coin from South Africa is that it was the first decimal coin introduced in the country, replacing the previous British-based system of pounds, shillings, and pence. This coin was also the first to feature the image of a Springbok, a native antelope species, on its reverse side, which has since become a symbol of South African currency.
