The directive from the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) which requested the creation of the coin stated the figure were to be stamped on the obverse of the coin. Numista, however, to keep order in its database prefers to show the figure as stamped on the reverse.

Interesting fact

The 50 Centavos coin was designed by artist Marcello Rendeira, hence the name "Rendeira" in parentheses. The coin features a stylized image of a coffee plant on one side and the Brazilian coat of arms on the other. Coffee is one of Brazil's most important crops, and the coin's design is meant to symbolize the country's rich agricultural heritage.
