Comment

Struck over a Chile 1833 4 Escudos or Chile 1853 10 Pesos.
A later restrike using original dies of the Buenos aires mint, clearly struck over a 1833 Chile gold 4 Escudos (KM87). This and the minor denominations were never issued albeit master dies with incomplete dates were finished. The amount originally authorized for the 50 Centavos denomination was of 1,380,000 coins.

According to the contract between the Buenos Aires Mint (Casa de Moneda de la República Argentina) and a representative of Paraguay, a whole series of coins had to be minted in silver: 5, 10, 20, 50 centavos and 1 peso. But actually, only 1 peso was minted in 1889. Other coins are known only as pattern strikes.
