Comment

The production of Cruzeiro Novo (NCr$) coins continued after the change of monetary standard to Cruzeiro (Cr$) in 1970.
Therefore, the Central Bank of Brazil considers coins after 1970 to belong to the new Cruzeiro monetary unit. Coins minted in 1967 entered circulation in 1968.

The Cruzeiro Novo coins (NCr$), 1967-1969), continued in use until 1980 alongside the Cruzeiro coins

Interesting fact

The 50 Centavos coin from Brazil, made of Nickel and weighing 8.74g, has an interesting fact that it was part of a series of coins that were designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Brazilian Republic. The coin features the image of a woman representing the Republic, surrounded by the words "Republica dos Estados Unidos do Brazil" (Republic of the United States of Brazil) and the date 1967. This coin was circulated in 1967 and was a significant part of Brazil's currency system at that time.
