Comment

Although very similar to KM#124 this coin was never released for circulation; instead it was used as base for the 1890 strikes (not simply an over-dating, but a complete second hit which nullified this underlying coin). Very few survived this process making this one quite rare and valuable.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1889 Costa Rican 50 Centavos coin is that it was minted during a time of economic turmoil in the country. The coin was introduced as part of a new currency system aimed at stabilizing the economy and addressing inflation. Despite the challenges, the coin has remained a popular collector's item due to its unique composition and historical significance.
