Date of Issue: 22-05-20182018, 11 November marks a special anniversary for Poland – the country celebrates 100 years of regaining independence. Poland restored its sovereignty in 1918, after 123 years of partitions which wiped it off from the political map of Europe. 11 November is an annual public holiday and a non-working day in Poland. The coin was minted to represent the Polish population.

The Circulating commemorative coin 5 Zlotys (Regaining Independence) 2018 from Poland features an image of a stork, which is a symbol of hope and new beginnings in Polish culture. The stork is depicted carrying a baby in its beak, representing the rebirth of Poland as an independent nation. This design was chosen to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Poland's regaining of independence in 1918.
