The Poznań Town Hall is the greatest Renaissance building in the Wielkopolska region and one of the most beautiful buildings in the whole of Poland. The oldest mention of the building dates to 1310. It was probablyerected just a little earlier, at the turn of the 13th century.

One of the legends says, that two goats escaped from a butcher and climbed the Town Hall tower. Butcher chased them, but when he also climbed the tower, saw the enemy's army. The city had to prepare for the attack and was saved, and two goats have become symbols of the city.
