Comment

The exact circumstances of this coin are unknown. It has the regular reverse of the 5 Øre which was released one year prior, while retaining the high relief obverse portrait of the pattern coin from 1958. It has also been found in circulation. Most likely this variant was minted as a result of a misunderstanding.

Interesting fact

The Pattern 5 Øre - Olav V (high relief portrait) 1959 from Norway, made of Bronze weighing 8 g, is a rare and valuable coin among collectors. One interesting fact about this coin is that it was designed by the Norwegian artist, Per Palle Storm, who was known for his work on various coins and medals for the Norwegian mint. The high relief portrait of King Olav V on the coin was a unique feature that set it apart from other coins of its time. Additionally, the use of bronze as the material for the coin was also uncommon, making it a distinctive piece in the world of numismatics.
