Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1994 South African Presidential inauguration 5 Rand coin is that it was the first commemorative coin to be issued in the new democratic era of South Africa, following the end of apartheid. The coin was minted to commemorate the inauguration of Nelson Mandela as the country's first black president, and it features an image of Mandela on the obverse side, along with the inscription "Nelson Mandela" in English, Afrikaans, and Xhosa. The reverse side of the coin features the South African coat of arms and the year of issue, 1994. The coin's design was created by the South African artist and designer, Stompie Selibe.
