Comment
Fuad al-Awwal (1868-1936)was the Sultan (1917-1922) and later King of Egypt (1922-1936).Although Fuad ascended the throne after his brother death (Sultan Hussein Kamel) in 1917, he was unable to mint coins after his name because of WWI, thus the coins were minted in the years 1917 to 1919 in the name of the late Sultan Hussein Kamel. However the date of his accession to the throne in Hijri date (1335) was minted on the observe. - Ref: MHC
During the reign of King Farouk, he ordered the meltingn down of large quantities of Sultan Fuad coins for minting new ones. This resulted in the scarcity of this coin. - Ref: MHC
