The ninth design in The Queen's Beasts bullion series which began in 2016 with the Lion of England, there are a total of ten Beasts representing the statues that stood in Westminster Abbey on the Queen's Coronation in 1953. The original statues are now on display in the Canadian Museum of History at Gatineau, whilst James Woodford's sculpted replicas stand in the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, London.This Jody Clark reverse design was struck in a variety of base and precious metal compositions and denominations.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that the White Horse of Hanover, featured on the reverse side of the coin, is a symbol of the British monarchy and has been used on various coins and currency throughout history. It is said to represent the horse that carried King George I, the first Hanoverian monarch, to his coronation in 1714. The use of the White Horse on this coin is a nod to the rich history and tradition of the British monarchy.
