Comment
The first design in The Queen's Beasts bullion series, there are a total of ten Beasts representing the statues that stood in Westminster Abbey on Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953. The original statues are now on display in the Canadian Museum of History at Gatineau, whilst James Woodford's sculpted replicas stand in the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, London.
This Jody Clark reverse design was struck in a variety of base and precious metal compositions and denominations.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that it features a unique reverse design, showcasing the Lion of England, which is a symbol of strength, courage, and royalty. The lion is depicted standing on its hind legs, with its front paws resting on a shield, and its head turned to the left, as if looking back at its tail. The design is intricately detailed and showcases the fine craftsmanship of the Royal Mint. Additionally, the coin's high silver content and limited mintage make it a valuable and sought-after collector's item.
