Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that it features King Canute, who was a Viking king of England in the 11th century. He is depicted on the coin standing on the shore, holding a sword and looking out to sea, symbolizing his attempt to halt the tide and his ultimately unsuccessful efforts to defend his kingdom against the invading Normans. This design was chosen to commemorate the 950th anniversary of Canute's death in 1035.
