Interesting fact

The 2014 £5 D-Day - By Air; Silver Proof coin was issued to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings during World War II. The coin's design features a depiction of a Dakota aircraft, which was used to transport paratroopers during the invasion of Normandy. The coin's obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse shows a map of Normandy and the words "D-Day 6th June 1944." The coin's silver content and proof finish add to its collectibility and numismatic value.
