Comment

Despite being produced in their millions and being available at face value from most post offices and banks, the ordinary business strike was a Royal Mint commemorative issue and not intended for general circulation.

This design was also issued as part of the Annual sets in both Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof quality while also being available in individual BU packs. The coin was also issued in a coronation jubilee pack, with a complete set of coins from 1953 from the secondary market with an issue limit of 3,500 (2,260 sales). The design was also struck in silver proof and gold proof.
