Part of the first of three sets of £5 coins issued in 2009 and 2010, celebrating Britain leading up to the London 2012 Olympics through the themes of Mind, Body & Spirit. Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that the Angel of the North, which is featured on the reverse side of the coin, is a large sculpture located in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, North East England. It was designed by Antony Gormley and completed in February 1998. The sculpture is 20 metres (66 feet) tall, with wings measuring 54 meters (177 feet) across, and is made of steel. It is an iconic landmark in the North East of England and has become a symbol of the region.
