Issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the ending of World War II, the coin was released as individual pieces and in Royal Mail coin & stamp covers. The design was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort and gold proof. The BU mintage comprised Royal Mint packs (9,475 sales), third parties Trade Packaging (17,000 sales) and coin and stamp sets (1,198 sales).
