Comment

The second design in The Queen's Beasts BU series which began in 2016 with the Lion of England, there are a total of ten Beasts representing the statues that stood in Westminster Abbey on the Queen's Coronation in 1953. The original statues are now on display in the Canadian Museum of History at Gatineau, whilst James Woodford's sculpted replicas stand in the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, London.

This Jody Clark reverse design was struck in a variety of base and precious metal compositions and denominations.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that showcases the Unicorn of Scotland, a mythical creature that has been a symbol of purity and grace in Scottish folklore for centuries. The Unicorn is depicted on the reverse side of the coin, surrounded by a decorative border and the inscription "5 POUNDS." This design was created by the Royal Mint's own team of skilled designers and engravers, who worked closely with the Palace to ensure that the coin would meet the Queen's approval. The coin's obverse side features the 5th portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was also designed by the Royal Mint.
