Issued to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the assession of HM The Queen, the coin was only available in Brilliant Uncirculated quality, both individually (74,210 sales) and in a stamp and coin cover (9,757 sales), the design was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort and gold proof.© The Royal Mint, 2017
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that it was released to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Sapphire Jubilee, which marked 65 years since her accession to the throne. The coin's design features a special fifth portrait of the Queen, created by sculptor Jody Clark, and includes the inscription "ELIZABETH II • DEI • GRA • REGINA • FID • DEF" (Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith). The coin's sapphire blue color is also a nod to the anniversary being celebrated.
