The Restoration of the Stuart monarchy in the kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland took place in 1660 when King Charles II returned from exile in Europe. The preceding period of the Protectorate and the civil wars came to be known as the Interregnum or the Commonwealth of England.Released in Brilliant Uncirculated quality, both as a small card issue (150,000 issue limit) and a larger folder type (50,000 issue limit), as part of the Annual Proof coin sets for 2010 (40,000 issue limit, 30,844 sales) and in a Philatelic Numismatic Cover. The design was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort, gold proof and platinum piedfort.
