Menzel: BBBInteresting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during a time when Germany was going through a period of hyperinflation, and the value of the 5 Pfennigs coin was significantly lower than its face value. In fact, in 1923, the year this coin was minted, the inflation rate in Germany was so high that the value of the German mark (the national currency) dropped to 1/100 trillionth of its value just a few years earlier. This coin, made of iron and weighing only 2.3 grams, was a small denomination coin that was used in everyday transactions during a time of great economic upheaval in Germany.
