Menzel: BBBThe Schlosswerft, which was founded by Reinhold Holtz in 1884, was located on the castle island right next to the castle. In addition to the shipbuilding workshops and slip systems, he was able to set up a machine shop, model carpentry, iron and metal foundry and produce the required machines and steam boilers in his own workshops.
It had to close in 1930 and was reopened in 1940 for the construction of hydrofoil speedboats.
Interesting fact
The coin features a unique design on its reverse side, showcasing the Harburg Castle, which was built in the 12th century and has been a prominent landmark in the city of Harburg for centuries. The castle was heavily damaged during World War II, but it has since been restored and now serves as a museum and cultural center. The inclusion of this design on the coin highlights the rich history and cultural heritage of the city of Harburg.
