Comment

Coins and Species is a collection of coins made of pure silver (law 0.999). This collection consists of 10 coins with motifs of animals in danger of extinction in Mexico and an album to collect them. It is a limited edition and part of the resources raised from its sale will be used for conservation programs for species and their habitats.

Also called "teporingo" or "rabbit of the volcanoes", the zacatuche is an endemic species (exclusively Mexican) and is considered one of the most primitive rabbits. It is also the smallest of the rabbits in Mexico and is recognized, in addition to its size, by the characteristic color of its coat, which is dark grayish brown, and by its small, rounded ears. In total, the adult zacatuches reach 30 cm long and weighing just 500 grams. Its legs are also very small and its tail is so small that it is hardly noticeable.

Interesting fact

The 5 Pesos (Zacatuche) 2001 coin from Mexico is a unique piece that features a beautiful design of the Zacatuche cactus, which is a rare and endangered species found in the country.
