Comment

Coins and Species is a collection of coins made of pure silver (law 0.999). This collection consists of 10 coins with motifs of animals in danger of extinction in Mexico and an album to collect them. It is a limited edition and part of the resources raised from its sale will be used for conservation programs for species and their habitats.

The black bear is the largest carnivorous mammal that can be found in Mexico; its length ranges between 1.3 and 2 meters and its weight between 100 and 250 kg. or more. Its head is large with large ears, its tail is very small, so it is hardly visible. As its name indicates, the predominant color of its fur is black (except on the muzzle, where it is usually honey-colored), although there are also dark brown and tan. Black bears do not have a hump, their legs are very large with short claws, less than 50 mm. long, black and hooked.

Interesting fact

The 5 Pesos (Oso Negro) 2001 coin from Mexico is a unique piece that features a beautiful design of a black bear (Oso Negro) on its obverse side, which is not commonly seen on coins.
