The reverse design is very elaborated, with several symbols, showing José Martí, main leader of the Independence war, on 2nd. half of 19th. century, and Fidel Castro, leader of the revolution against Batista.

The flying dove on center symbolizes freedom and peace. and shape of south shore reminds the places where revolutionaries reached the island.
