Comment

NOTE: Before minting the silver coins, were minted brass patterns with same dies, to be gifted to employees of the company (more than 100). This is the reason metal and weight engraved do not match real ones.

The Fidel Castro phrase, said at his speech on New Delhi's Non-Aligned Countries Summit, declares his thinking of developing the country, as the way to reach peace.

The image represented is from "La Guerra y la Paz" (The War and the Peace), drawing by Picasso, based on his famous Peace Dove.

This is the only Cuban coin that shows Fidel's signature.

Interesting fact

The Pattern 5 Pesos (International Year of Peace, Trial Strike) 1986 from Cuba made of Brass weighing 11.95g is a rare and unique coin. It was minted in 1986 to commemorate the International Year of Peace, which was declared by the United Nations to promote peace and non-violence around the world. The coin features the iconic image of a dove, which is a symbol of peace, on its obverse side. Additionally, the coin's reverse side features the Cuban coat of arms and the inscription "1986 International Year of Peace" in Spanish. This coin is particularly interesting because it was minted as a trial strike, which means that it was produced in limited quantities and was not intended for circulation. As a result, it has become a highly sought-after collector's item among numismatists and coin collectors.
