Comment
The design of this coin was not approved, so was not minted the total quantity planned; but before knowing the rejection, minthouse already had minted 2 pieces; one of them is in the Cuban minhouse collection.Hot air balloon is a means of transportation based on the hot air inside of the balloon makes vehicle lighter than air, so it floats on air. Height of flight can be controlled heating the air to elevate, or letting it cool to descend. Also extra loads are added, that can be thrown if a fast raise is needed.
Interesting fact
The 5 Pesos (hot air balloon) coin from Cuba, made of Silver (.999) and weighing 12g, is a non-circulating coin that was minted in 1984. One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design of a hot air balloon on its obverse side, which sets it apart from other coins. The use of a hot air balloon as the central image on the coin was likely chosen to commemorate the 1984 International Hot Air Balloon Festival, which was held in Cuba that year. This coin is a rare and collectible item, and its unique design makes it a standout among other coins.
