Comment
2008 - 2010 mintages are considerably lower because those were the years the commemorative coins were released (Centennial of the Revolution and Bicentennial of Independence series). The mintage for these standard 5 Pesos coins was reduced to nearly a tenth of the normal years, making them more difficult to find and usually more expensive than the commemorative coins of the same years.A small design error occurs on all the 1997-2008 coins, that was not present on the 1992-1995 5 nuevos pesos coins. From 2009 onward, the error is fixed and also the obverse got slightly smaller design features, with reduced thickness of the font compared to the pre-2009 font. On the reverse at the bottom on the bronze center, there are two half pearls that were whole on the 1992-1995 coins. From 2009 onward these pearls are whole again, with thin decoration lines added that are probably the cause for this error on the 1997-2008 coins.
