1954 Mintage was stopped due to inflation which meant the 10 peso coin next year would be the exact same size as this one, so to prevent confusion it was decided to not release that year anymore to wait a year for the "5-Peso-size" 10 Peso coin to appear.

Interesting fact

The 5 Pesos coin from Mexico, issued between 1951 and 1954, has an interesting feature. It was made of a unique alloy, consisting of 72% silver and 28% copper, which gives it a distinctive color and durability.
