Comment

Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa Hispida Saimensis) are the most endangered seals in the world. They have a total population of 400 animals. The only existing population of these seals lives in Lake Saimaa, Finland. They have lived in isolation for around 9,500 years without meeting other seals. For this reason, the Saimaa ringed seals have developed a different morphology and are considered a specific subspecie of ringed seal.

Interesting fact

The 5 Markkaa coin from Finland, made of Copper-aluminium-nickel and weighing 5.5g, has a unique feature. It has a built-in security feature called "micro-text" which are tiny letters and images that are difficult to reproduce, making it difficult for counterfeiters to replicate the coin.
