This coin must be considered as a pattern strike, since it has been minted in few pieces (many of them has been retired by the mint and melted; only few survived) and never released to circulation. The reason is that this coin was a violation of the rules laid down by the Latin Monetary Union that suspended the coinage of crown-size silver coins in 1878 due to a large decrease of silver value.
