Interesting fact
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of King Carol I, who was the first king of Romania and ruled from 1881 until his death in 1901. The coin was minted during his reign, and it's interesting to note that the king's image on the coin was designed by a French sculptor named Ernest-Eugène Hiolle, who was a well-known artist at the time.
