The commemorative coin is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, one of the oldest and largest education establishments of Ukraine. The University is a center of education and science where the traditions are kept up and multiplied, new ideas are fostered, national intelligentsia is formed and freedom-loving spirit is supported.Interesting fact
The coin features a portrait of Taras Shevchenko, a Ukrainian poet and national hero, on its obverse side. Shevchenko was a key figure in the Ukrainian national revival of the 19th century, and his works have had a significant impact on Ukrainian literature and culture. The coin's design was created by Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Demianenko, and it was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Shevchenko's birth.
